Specification for MEKP Catalyst:

Composition - Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide 50 % Solution in phthalate Plasticiser 

Appearance - Clear, Colourless liquid.

Active Oxygen - 9% by weight

Fragrance- Pungent

Specific Gravity at 25° c - 1.08

Flash Point - Above 70° c

Solubility - freely Soluble in most Organic solvents

Shelf life - Not less then 6 month if stored below 25°c

Storage Condition - Store In a cool place and do not expose to direct sunlight. Keep in original containers and avoid contamination.

Note - MEKP is freely soluble in polyester resins. It is important that catalyst is fully dissolved in the resin before use, otherwise uneven curing may take place.

Health Hazard - MEKP is a powerful oxidizing agent. Care must be taken to avoid Contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
When handling catalyst, protective gloves and goggles must be worn. Wipe of immediately, if contacted with skin, by benzene or methylated spirits. Wash with soap and water. Medical advice should be sought in the event of burns.

Usage Level:b>
Accelerator is used along with catalyst to gel unsaturated polyester resin from liquid state to solid state.
The following levels based on weight of resin are recommended.

Catalyst - MEKP - 1.5% to 2 %
The quantity will vary with different resins according to the gel timeof the Resin and the room temperature.
